Muppets: is there anything they can't do?

This made me happy, today. I know it's the day after St. Paddy's, but that's ok: Danny Boy isn't really an Irish thing, anyway ;)

Yes! Especially since all of my other favourites keep disappearing due to copyright BS.

You can't have enough Swedish Chef, Animal or Beaker in your life :)

Oh! and Miss Piggy & hippy Janice. Can't forget them :)

Moi! (That's an air kiss from Miss Piggy.)

The "Danny Boy" parody at your link had me giggling. I've sometimes thought that the "plot" or at least the sentiment of "Danny Boy" owed a lot to "Loch Lomond," which really was written by a Scots rebel who was about to be executed but which had been turned into a sentimental favourite a century later in Victorian England.

Och, stage Irish and stage Scots. Who can ever forget Lyin' Brian and Ronnie and spouses singing ... No, I won't repeat it here.

the only opportunity left for Iraq to be saved from a dark, but not inevitable future, is to engage the international community. ... Such a step will allow the American troops to leave and the occupation to be brought to its end.

The Muppets are an ensemble cast of puppet characters known for an absurdist, burlesque, and self-referential style of variety-sketch comedy. Created by Jim Henson in 1955, they are the namesakes of the Disney-owned media franchise that encompasses television, film, music, and other media associated with the characters.

The Muppets originated in the short-form television series Sam and Friends, which aired from 1955 to 1961. Following appearances on late night talk shows and in advertising during the 1960s, the Muppets began appearing on Sesame Street (1969–present), and attained celebrity status and international recognition through The Muppet Show (1976–1981), which received four Primetime Emmy Award wins and twenty-one nominations during its five-year run.
